“Japanese and French contemporary art blend into one another, and an artistic energy is generated in Tokyo.
Visitors have the chance to experience this warmth firsthand.
Japanese ukiyo-e was well received at the Paris World's Fair in 1867 and had a great influence on French painters.
At that time, Japanese culture and art, which were far away in the Far East, were merged and sublimated in France, leaving a very precious legacy to the whole world.
The year is 2024.
The work of French painter Véronique Almarine has arrived at the National Art Center in Tokyo.
Using brushes dipped in Indian ink, she expresses a detailed world using only black and white. One by one, step by step. Like life's journey, it is a repetitive task.
For the average person, this may seem like a daunting task, but his artistic conviction is hard work and more hard work! However, the works that emerge from his hands are far from mechanical. It is precisely because they are not accompanied by colors that they awaken the viewer's imagination.
I feel in his works a certain elegance, a timelessness and a generous love of nature.
I would like visitors to this place to take the time to appreciate the charm of his work."
